How sans-serif bold text works
Each letter is swapped for a character from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block (U+1D400–U+1D7FF). Unicode added these letters so mathematicians could tell a bold 𝐱 from an italic 𝑥 in equations, since the two mean different things. Social apps display them like any other character, which is what makes them useful as fake fonts.
Coverage for this style: A–Z, a–z, 0–9. Anything outside that range passes through unchanged.
