About Greek letters

Modern Greek uses one accent, the tonos, on the stressed vowel, and the dialytika (two dots) to separate vowels. The Greek question mark looks like a semicolon.

The Greek layout maps letters phonetically onto QWERTY (a = α, b = β, d = δ, f = φ, g = γ, h = η, j = ξ, u = θ, v = ω, c = ψ). The tonos is typed with the ; key before the vowel.

Final sigma ς is used only at the end of a word; on the Greek layout it is on the W key.

How to switch your keyboard to Greek

Windows

Open Settings → Time & Language → Language & region, add Greek (or open the options for your language and add the Greek keyboard). Switch layouts with Win+Space. The current layout is shown next to the clock.

Mac

Open System Settings → Keyboard → Input Sources → Edit, click +, and add Greek. Switch with Control+Space or from the input menu in the menu bar. Turn on Show Input menu in menu bar to see which layout is active.

iPhone and iPad

Open Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard and choose Greek. Switch by holding the globe key on the keyboard.

Android

In Gboard, open Settings → Languages → Add keyboard and choose Greek. Switch by holding the space bar or tapping the globe key.
