About Polish letters

Polish adds nine letters: ą, ć, ę, ł, ń, ó, ś, ź and ż. Most Polish speakers use the Polish (Programmers) layout, where Alt Gr plus the base letter types the accented version.

On a Mac the Polish Pro layout works the same way with Option plus the base letter.

The ł has a stroke, not an accent, so it cannot be typed with a dead key on a standard layout.

How to switch your keyboard to Polish

Windows

Open Settings → Time & Language → Language & region, add Polish (or open the options for your language and add the Polish (Programmers) keyboard). Switch layouts with Win+Space. The current layout is shown next to the clock.

Mac

Open System Settings → Keyboard → Input Sources → Edit, click +, and add Polish Pro. Switch with Control+Space or from the input menu in the menu bar. Turn on Show Input menu in menu bar to see which layout is active.

iPhone and iPad

Open Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard and choose Polish. Switch by holding the globe key on the keyboard.

Android

In Gboard, open Settings → Languages → Add keyboard and choose Polish. Switch by holding the space bar or tapping the globe key.
